Youth in High Def

“Youth in High Def is the Near West Youth Council. They were formed in 2009 and since has created three successful youth summits.  Each youth in the council has received Facilitation training and utilize their skills to facilitate youth meetings, study circles, and activities through out Indianapolis.  To date the youth have received over $30,000 in grant funding for their programs.

The meetings are created, implemented, and facilitated by youth ages 12-18 yrs of age.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

 Our Purpose is to Provide:

Ultimately, we want to present an event that represents our six principles of Clear, Focused, Loud, Vibrant, Best Practices, and Technology Driven.

Our commitment to our Youth participants:

We commit to making sure our  messages are clear and to the point to community leaders, media, and adults.

We commit to providing information that encourages, educates, and is intentional in its message.

We commit to having fun, entertaining, and providing events that all youth will be excited to attend.

 Our 6 purposes:

 Clear:  We will:

• Be intentional on what we are trying to do
• Present events in a way the youth will understand

Focused: We will:

• Engage youth to participate in their community
• Educate youth on youth issues and current affairs
• Provide encouragement.

Loud:  We will:

• Have music and voices that will be heard
• Educate adults on how to speak to youth and not speak at youth

Vibrant: We will

• Present our events with energy, bright lights, and activities

Technical: We will

• Make sure that we are up to date on today’s technology
• Utilize all the latest technology and gadgets that will interest the youth

The Best: We will

• Provide the best quality of items for youth
• Be healthy and have awareness of your surroundings and health
• Promote Being the Best Person you can be
• Connect Neighborhoods, residents, and youth together
•  Build communities through the leadership of the youth
