Come to Growing Near West Community Garden’s second fall meeting!
November 7th at 6:30 pm
At the Fugate Community Room in George Washington High School
We will be discussing:
+ How this past growing season went and what we can do to improve for next year
+ Purchasing a greenhouse for next year
+ Important future dates!
What is Growing Near West?
Growing Near West is a chain of local community gardens on the near west side of Indianapolis. There is one garden for each neighborhood: Haughville, Hawthorne, Stringtown, and We Care, supported by the Near West Collective Initiative. These gardens will let you learn and teach others how to grow food. It will also be a time to spend with your family, friends, and neighbors. Everyone is welcome, experienced gardener or not. You’re also invited to spread the word about what’s growing. This is a community effort– we are all Growing Near West!

Whether you have a green thumb or not, anyone is welcome to join Growing Near West! Growing Near West is comprised of 4 community garden locations, one for each neighborhood. Our first meeting in preparation for the next season will be this coming Monday, October 10th at 6:30 in the Fugate Community Room at George Washington High School.

Come grow with us!

Super F.L.Y.

Future Leaders of the Youth

Youth in High Def Youth Council is happy to announce their 3rd annual Youth Summit titled SuperF.L.Y.  (Future Leaders of the Youth)  This youth summit theme is based on super heroes and will focus on youth ages 12 to 18 and take place on October 7-8 at George Washington High School.  The summit will consist of three components: entrepreneurship, leadership, and college and job readiness.  Our keynote speaker, Dr. Farrah Gray; will speak to the youth regarding entrepreneurship, perseverance, and leadership.

The objective behind the theme SuperF.L.Y is to:

  •             Inspire youth to see their potential and be given the opportunity to shine with their strengths.
  •              Provide resources for youth after high school.  While  youth realize that not everyone attends   college after graduation, they want to make sure to highlight alternative possibilities after high school through workforce, certifications, or entrepreneurship.
  •              Educate youth on proper resume building, completing applications, interviewing skills, and presentation skills.

Registration is required for each participant.
