Community Garden & Fair

 Join the Haughville, Hawthorne, We Care, and Stringtown neighborhoods for a great opportunity to plant a youth community garden and learn about healthy and sustainable living.

FREE HEALTH FAIR AND CARNIVAL

On May 11th  the community will come together to plant a garden at Friendship West Side Center for Excellence in the morning from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm . A health fair and carnival will follow from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. The health fair and carnival will include education sessions, fitness activities, and other fun and games for adults and kids

Now is the time to get your GED.

…before January 1, 2014 when the tougher new GED test arrives!

Compared with today’s test, the 2014 test will require:

  1. Writing 2 essays instead of 1

  2. $120 to test instead of $70

  3. Computer skills, instead of paper and pencil, to mark your answes and type your essay

  4. Completing short answer, fill-in-the blank, and other question

  5. Higher level math and reasoning skills, such as more algebra

  6. A greater percentage of correct answers to pass.

Save time and money: Pass the GED exam before January 2014.

Afternoon is on Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday from 12 – 3pm

Evening is on Monday and Wednesday from 4 – 7pm

Bicycle Roundup Rescheduled!

The New Date will be for MAY 19th.  We will be giving away 2 new Bicycles and 75 Helmets! we hope to see you there.

Our new seedlings are starting to show life in our brand new Greenhouse!

Help us with our Neighborhood Garden!

Monday, March 19th @ 6:30pm at the Hawthorne Community Center.
We will be starting our seedlings.
Saturday March 24th @ 10 am at your neighborhood garden plot.
